2004 News Archive

Things are starting to happen! The architects have performed the site survey, the results of which have shown that we have enough depth at the site to have our prefered bowl depth of 7 feet. (This was a worry during planning as we didn't know how deep we would be able to dig). Drainage looks like it's going to be a little more complex than we'd hoped, but should be nothing insurmountable. The planning application has been largely drawn up, is now being finalised and should go to the council very soon.

Laura has been working hard on some better renderings of the plan. As you can see, we are still tweaking the design but only very minor changes are now being made.
In other news, discussions are underway with the architects, and a site survey is hopefully being done over the next week or two. This will be to determine how issues such as drainage and overall construction will be handled.

Some images of Draft 3 are now available. This is hopefully the final layout, as shown at the meeting on the 20th. There's still some tweaking to be done, but the general layout should now be finalised.
20th September 2004
A bit belated, but the meeting last week was well attended (by both skaters, council representatives, and parents). The (nearly) finished design was shown, very similar to the Draft 3, but with the bowl turned 90 degrees and some of the ramps moved around a bit to make it all work better. I'll post pics as soon as they are ready. From there we are ready to put together a brief and go out to tender...watch this space.
