The park is located in the centre of clitheroe, in the castle grounds. The castle is signposted and easy to find, it's on a hill at the end of the main street. Map
From the bus station/train station:
As you come out of the station, there is a roundabout in front of you. Go straight across the road and head up the hill, (between Dawsons and The Station pub). At the top of the hill you'll come to a crossroads. Turn right up the main street, you'll see the castle in front of you. Continue to the end of the street and enter the castle grounds. Follow the path to the right of the castle, past the bandstand on your right. At the junction, go straight on, and the park is on the left hand side, beyond the bowling green and football / basketball pitch.
By Car
If you're driving, your best bet is probably the car park on Eshton Terrace directly opposite the entrance to the castle grounds. Go inside the gate and turn right, the park is just a short way along the path.Opening Times
The park is open from 8:30am until 9pm at night, 7 days a week.
The Park
The Park is of all-concrete construction and covers approximately 1200 square metres. There are three main zones to the park; the street plaza (with benches, granite blocks of various sizes, kerbs, a curved manual pad, ledges and rails) which leads into the central section (traditional skatepark type terrain, pyramids, funboxes, and a pair of spined mini ramps), and finally a split level, 7 foot deep concrete kidney bowl. Each section blends into the next, so a line can take you fully from one end of the park to the other without stopping. Pictures here
The Project
The park was kindly funded by the Lancaster Foundation, working in collaboration with local charities Trinity and The Gold Team. The layout was designed and researched by local skaters Laura, Andy and Jason, with input from the local skate community. Local architects Ashworth Burke did the structural design work, and building was by local construction firm Carefoots of Longridge, with Duracrete subcontracted for the sprayed concrete work.
